National Professional Qualifications (NPQs)
Teachers and school leaders across the region can now access a comprehensive suite of National Professional Qualifications (NPQs).
Red Kite Teaching School Hub – a unique collaboration of strategic partners from across North and West Yorkshire – is delivering a comprehensive NPQ programme in partnership with UCL.
The programme represents the most widely recognised set of qualifications in the education sector for current and aspiring leaders. It is designed to fit in with the day-to-day realities of supporting teacher development and is structured to help teachers to integrate theory, practice and feedback, minimising time out of the classroom.
Leadership NPQs
- Executive Leadership, Early Years Leadership, Headship, Senior Leadership and SENCO options
- Minimal time commitments with a mix of online seminars after school and face to face conferences
- No assessed school based project
- Open book assessment week: one case study response
- Flexible online learning over 18 months
- Suitable for part time and full time colleagues
Specialist NPQs
- Leading Literacy, Leading Behaviour and Culture, Leading Teaching, Leading Teacher Development and Leading Primary Mathematics options
- Minimal time commitments with a mix of online seminars after school and face to face conferences
- No assessed school based project
- Open book assessment week: one case study response
- Flexible online learning over 12 months
- Suitable for part time and full time colleagues

NPQ Applications Open - Autumn 2025 NPQ Update
Limited funded places, only 1 annual cohort. Places allocated on a first come basis, apply early to secure your place.
This year, there will only be one annual cohort for NPQs. Limited DfE scholarship funding is available for all schools for Headship and SENCO. Schools with the highest 50% Pupil Premium will also be eligible for funding for Senior Leadership, Leading Teaching, Leading Teaching Development and Leading Behaviour and Culture.
The DfE Portal will open on 8th September. Red Kite Teaching School Hub is encouraging early registration, the expression of interest form is available now.
